Environmental Characterization
Mining operations, large transportation hubs, new power generation or Carbon Capture and Sequestration facilities, or indeed any large-scale enterprises which produce emissions, especially those in close proximity to urban areas, are increasingly required to provide validated proof of air quality changes and other environmental impacts on a continuous basis, to meet environmental and other legislative requirements.
Knowing what exists in the environment before such developments are put in place is a key baseline against which an effective monitoring system can be implemented. Characterizing such background environments is one of Dycor’s core capabilities – having done so in both research and operational conditions ranging from the high desert to tropical locations, to urban environments.
With environmental characterization providing the baseline, ongoing monitoring, sampling, and reporting capabilities can be deployed. Where hazardous emissions are a possibility, building accurate alarming algorithms is necessary to minimize false alarms, and provide high confidence in alarm situations.
